Crochet Bunny Applique Pattern

An excellent method to finish remains of your threads is to create an applique. Today I’ll share a funny crochet bunny pattern :).

I used seven different colors of threads, four colors of beads and one button.

Crochet bunny’s head

Start crocheting from the head: chain 14. Everything depends on the thickness of the thread and size of the bunny that you want to create. (In the example I used thread with thickness of 50 gram/165 meter.)

Make a single crochet (sc) in the second loop from the hook and in all the loops of the row, chain 1 (ch1), turn. *Make 2 sc in the first loop and sc in all other loops, 2 sc in the last loop. This way we are enlarging the head of the bunny and making it more round. At the end of second row you will get 15 loops. Repeat 2 row from * till you get 21 loops in the last row.

After that, just make normal sc without additions and don’t forget to make a ch1 in the end of each row. I got 6 more rows. Start decreasing the length of the next rows: first 2 loops make together, e.g. pull the thread through the first loop, then through the second and make all 3 loops on the hook together, then make a ch1, turn. Repeat decreasing the row for 2 more times.

Without cutting the thread make a single crochet around the head.

Crochet bunny’s ears

chain 14, in the second loop from the hook make 7 sc, then make 5 double crochet (dc) and in the last loop 5 dc, this way we turn to the other side. Repeat crocheting in the opposite direction – 5 dc, 7 sc and finish crocheting with slip stitch (sl st), ch1

Next circle start with 7 sc, 5 dc and add 2 dc in all 5 dc of the last loop. Repeat crocheting in the opposite direction – 5 dc, 7 sc, slip stitch (sl st), cut the thread.  While crocheting the ears you can use threads of different colors. Repeat crocheting to create one more ear :).

Crochet bunny’s body

chain 10, in the second loop from the hook make sc till the end of the row, ch1, turn the piece. Now make additions – in the first loop 2 sc, sc in all the loops of the row, 2 sc in the last loop, ch1. Repeat one more row with additions.

Then make 2 rows without additions. Start making additions when you are on the 5th row, and continue crocheting without additions till you reach desirable size. Without cutting the thread make a single crochet around the body.

Crochet bunny’s legs

chain 7, in the second loop from the hook make 5 sc, 3 sc in the last loop. By being on the other side make 4 sc till the end of the row and 2 sc in the last loop, slip stitch, ch1. Next circle start with 2 sc in the first loop, 4 sc, 2 sc in every 3 sc of the last loop, 4 sc, 2 sc in 2 last loops, sl st, ch1. Make a single crochet around the leg, cut the thread. Repeat crocheting to create one more leg :).

Now use your imagination to embroider eyes of the bunny and legs with beads. To make nose – sew the button.

Embroider mouth. Sew together all parts of the bunny. :). Bunny is ready and can be used as a décor for any other product.
