Hi Ann, Can you explain more what you are looking for?

Reply
Joanne 29th October 2017 at 21:46

Cannot figure out row five of this hair band and I have been knitting for a long time

editor 6th November 2017 at 10:10

Hi Joanne, where is the problem in the Row 5? If I confused you with my explanation, knit simply Row 5: sel s, k6, C3B, C3B, sel s.

cedrik 21st November 2017 at 01:33

i think the instruction for row 5 and the diagram dont match. the first line of the diagram is actually row 3.

You are right, but the diagram shows the main part of the braid not the whole pattern itself. Sorry If I confused you

Hi, I figured out what was a bit confusing in the directions. Hope you don’t mind. So, on row 5, you slip the first stitch purlwise, knit 6, Cable 3 Back, onto a cable needle, knit the 3 stitches from the Left Hand Needle , then the 3 from the Cable Needle. Immediately do that again. Repeat that Cable 3 Back, and there will be one stitch left on the Left hand needle. Slip it. . When you get to row 11, do the Cable 3 Front, one right after the other. It’s in the doing. Once I did 3 rows these cables just jump out with a lot of definition. , and it gorgeous.

Thank you for the pattern. Just downloaded it. I see in every row the first AND last stitch is slipped. Is this correct?

Reply
editor 12th November 2017 at 01:04

Hi. Yes you can slip them. In my case I always slip the first stitch and purl the very last one. Good luck!

This needs an explanation of stitches on the chart, if you please.

Crazy Hands Knitting Editor 2nd December 2017 at 15:01

Hi Karen. Please check the pattern description where you can find clear explanation. There are only 4 different stitches, selvage stitch, knit or purl stitches and Cable 3 Back or Cable 3 Front.

Pancho 2nd December 2017 at 12:56

Hi, great pattern, thank you for it. For the selvage stitch, do you slip the first stitch purlwise, and then purl the very last one for every row? Including the purl rows? Once the first 14 rows are done, should we continue then from row 3, or back to row 1? Thanks!

Crazy Hands Knitting Editor 2nd December 2017 at 18:27

Hi Pancho. You are right, always slip the first stitch and purl the very last one including the purl rows. Once the first 14 rows are done, continue from Row 3.

After you repeat row 3 do you repeat all the rows or do you go straight to row 8?

Reply
Knitting Guru 7th February 2020 at 17:51

Hi, you go straight to row 8

Love this pattern. I love how the selvedge edge looks with the modification you gave for row 5 but wanted a matching edge on the other side – I think if on row 11 you do (mod c3f) c3f k6 sel where the mod c3f is slip 3 purlwise to an extra needle and hold in front, sel (in this case, slip purlwise since it’s the first sel of the row) and k3 from the left needle, k3 from the extra needle… That’ll make a matching edge on the other side. Worked for me!

I’m new to knitting and confused by your comments to repeat from row 3 and then to go to row 8?
Please help.

Reply
Knitting Guru 9th December 2020 at 13:24

hi. Row 7 is the same as row 3. Then row 8 as written and so on. Let me know if it is still unclear

Reply
Carla 12th December 2019 at 20:31

I don’t see how you get that gauge with bulky yarn and a size 7 needle. Really?

Reply
Knitting Guru 15th December 2019 at 00:21

It always depends on how tight you knit. If you reach this gauge with worsted weight yarn, go ahead.

I’m knitting left handed and my cable is looking funky. Can I follow the written instructions (subbing “right needle” whenever it says “left needle”) or do I need to read them in reverse? Thanks;

Reply
Knitting Guru 26th December 2020 at 18:17

Hi, yes subbing left to right is correct

Penny 17th January 2021 at 22:00

I have not done cables, but that doesn’t confuse me so much as what is “sel”? And, also, “sel s”? Thank you. I’m looking for a baby cardigan sweater (older baby).

Emma 23rd January 2021 at 18:47

Your pattern reads with a “sel s” on both ends (row2 for example) which according to your definitions should be slipped both times, but then in your description you say you slip the first and purl the last….this is confusing. Also, when you slip the first stitch purlwise I am assuming the yarn is in front. Yes?

Reply
Knitting Guru 24th January 2021 at 09:15

Hi Emma. Before knitting, please read common abbreviation of knitting stitches. sel s – selvage stitch: always slip the first stitch purlwise, work to the last stitch, purl the last stitch. When you slip the first stitch purlwise hold the yarn in back always.

Hello, this is my first headband and I am loving it so far! I do have a question with how to end it. Do you cast off first then do the horizontal invisible seam or does your work stay on the needle? I am a huge visual learner if there is a video that shows it would be extremely appreciated!

Thank you!

Hi Tesslin. Check this video tutorial, I am using the same method https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4oK2N1rdUk

Muchas gracias. Norma.

Once the first 14 rows are done, continue from Row 3.
