Newborn Baby Set: Blue Primrose Knitting Hat

Recently I’ve had an inspiration to knit something cute for our lovely kids and I decided to focus on knitting a baby hat and baby mittens. Both pieces are designed for a newborn head & hands sizes. Knitted mittens are made without a thumb so that dressing and undressing goes smoothly. The hat is made on the circular needles using soft baby wool. Choose your preferred combination of colors and enjoy the process as well as the end result :). Get your little one ready for a nice photo session with knitted hat and knitted mittens.

Knitting materials and knitting tools:

<> Circular Knitting Needles 3.25 mm (US 3/UK 10) for the ribbing part and 4 mm (US 6/UK 8) for the main part;

<> Gazzal (baby wool) Medium 40% Lana Merino, 20% Cashmere Pa, 40% acrylic. Teal blue and yellow colors: 50 grams -100 m per skein – 0.5 ball – teal blue and 0.5 ball -yellow colors;

Baby knit hat size:

Newborn (0-3 months): 38-42 cm

k – knit

p – purl

Cable 3 Front (C3F): Slip 3 knit stitches to the extra needle and hold in front of the work, k3 from the left-hand needle, k3 from the extra needle.

Ribbing of the baby cable beanie

Using long tail cast on method, cast on 76 stiches with yellow color and 3.25 mm circular needles. (You may use Double Pointed Knitting Needles as well). Join to knit in the round. Rib k1, p1 until piece measures 3 cm or 1.2 inches.

In this round, we are going to increase to get in total 90 stitches. Change knitting needles from 3.25 to 4 mm and yellow yarn to teal blue one. You are free to knit one-color baby hat.

Earlier I was using increase from the previous round method but if there is a color change such method is inappropriate.

Another increase method:

Take working yarn, and twist it clockwise. Received loop put on the right needle. Pull working yarn.
