Crochet Strawberry Pattern with Green Leaves

Today we are starting a new project – crochet rainbow cardigan pattern that will be split into a number of shorter posts that will be uploaded here one by one. Today’s tutorial explains how you can crochet “juicy” strawberry in an easy way. This nice handcrafted piece will be used as a decorative item in the area of cardigan’s pocket.

Before start crocheting you need to have cotton threads (“cotton+acrylic” also suits well), a hook of 2 mm, white beads, beads thread and a glue gun. I don’t really like to sew small pieces – it takes so much time and efforts that I prefer to glue them.

Crochet strawberry pattern:

Chain 4 (ch) and join in the 1st loop.

1^st Round: Ch 1, then make 6 single crochet (sc) in the center, slip stitch (sl st) with 1^st sc.

2^nd Round: Ch 1, *sc, 2 sc in the next sc, repeat from * till the end of the round and finish with a sl st – 9 sc in the round.

3^rd Round: Ch 1, *2 sc, 2 sc in the next sc, repeat from * till the end of the round and finish with a sl st – 12 sc in the round.

4^th Round: Ch 1, *3 sc, 2 sc in the next sc, repeat from * till the end of the round and finish with a sl st – 15 sc in the round.

5^th Round: Ch 1, *4 sc, 2 sc in the next sc, repeat from * till the end of the round and finish with a sl st – 18 sc in the round.

6^th Round: Ch 1, *5 sc, 2 sc in the next sc, repeat from * till the end of the round and finish with a sl st – 21 sc in the round.

7^th Round: Ch 1, *6 sc, 2 sc in the next sc, repeat from * till the end of the round and finish with a sl st – 24 sc in the round.

8^th Round: sc in each stitch around – 24 sc in the round.

9^th Round: *2 sc, 1 sc decrease (dec), repeat from *till the end of the round and finish with sl st – 18 sc in the round. Single crochet decrease is done in the following way: insert hook in the next stitch and draw the yarn through the stitch then insert hook in the folowing stitch and draw the yarn thorough the stitch again, yarn over and draw the yarn through the 3 loops on the hook. In this place you should start filling the strawberry with synthetic padding, hollow fibre or with ordinary wool.

Chain 4 and join in the 1^st loop. Make ch 1 and crochet 6 sc in the center, sl st with the 1^st sc. In the next round start crocheting leaves. *ch 5, in the 2^nd loop from the hook crochet sc, then make half double crochet (hdc) and 2 double crochet (dc) and finish with sl st in the next sc. Repeat from * 5 more times. Cut the thread.

Now make an imitation of the strawberry seeds by using white beads, and then glue leaves to the strawberry’s body. That’s all – simple and nice piece of strawberry.
