k – knit

p – purl

st(s) – stitch(es)

sel s – selvage stitch: always slip the first stitch knitwise, work to the last stitch, purl the last stitch

Diagonal basketweave knit stitch instructions:

Cast on a multiple of 2 sts, plus 2 selvage stitches.

Row 1: sel s, *knit the 2^nd stitch, after knit the 1^st stitch and drop both stitches off the needle – repeat from *, sel s. There are 3 different ways to knit it, so I recommend you watch the video tutorial.

Row 2: sel s, p1, *purl the 2^nd stitch, after purl the 1^st stitch and drop both stitches off the needles – repeat from *, p1, sel s.

Repeat Rows 1-2 to form a pattern.
