Common abbreviations of knit stitches:
k – knit
p – purl
st(s) – stitch(es)
sel s – selvage stitch: always slip the first stitch purlwise, work to the last stitch, purl the last stitch.
sl – slip next stitch holding working yarn in back.
C1B – Cable 1 Back: Slip 1 knit stitch to the extra needle and hold in back of work, k1 from the left hand needle, k1 from the extra needle.
C1F – Cable 1 Front: Slip 1 knit stitch to the extra needle and hold in front of work, k1 from the left hand needle, k1 from the extra needle.
Half up twisted knit stitch:
Cast on a multiple of 7 sts, plus 3 extra stitches, plus 2 selvage stitches.
Row 1: sel s, *p3, k4 – repeat from *, p3 sel s.
Row 2: sel s, *k3, p4 – repeat from *, k3, sel s.
Row 3: sel s, *p3, k1, sl next 2 sts holding working yarn in back, k1 – repeat from *, p3 sel s.
Row 4: sel s, *k3, p1, sl next 2 sts holding working yarn in front, p1 – repeat from *, k3, sel s.
Row 5: sel s, *p3, C1B, C1F – repeat from *, p3 sel s.
Row 6: sel s, *k3, p4 – repeat from *, k3, sel s.
Repeat Rows 1-6 to form ribbing.
