Knitting materials and tools:

DPN 3.5 mm (US 4)

Caron, Simply Soft (4) – 100% acrylic.

Common abbreviations of knit stitches:

k – knit

p – purl

k2tog – knit two together

sel s – selvage stitch: always slip the first stitch knitwise, work to the last stitch, purl the last stitch

kfb – knit front and back: knit into the front loop of the stitch as usual, then, without dropping the stitch from the left needle, knit into the back loop of the same stitch.

Chevron stitch knitting pattern:

Cast on a multiple of 12, plus 13 extra stitches and 2 selvage stitches. For example 39 sts.

Row 1: sel s, knit all stitches across, sel s.

Row 2: sel s, k6, repeat [k2tog, k4, kfb, k5 ] across, k2tog, k4, kfb  sel s.

Repeat Row 2 on both the right and wrong sides to continue forming the pattern.
