Knitting materials and tools:
<> DPN 3 mm (UK11)
<> Sirdar, Pure cotton, DK(3) – 100% cotton.
<> Optionally, you can add a small bell, a yarn hanger, or other decorations.
Common abbreviations of knit stitches:
k – knit
p – purl
k2tog – knit two together
yo – yarn over – bring the working yarn from front to back over the top of the right-hand needle.
st(s) – stitch(es)
Christmas bell knitting pattern:
Cast on 6 stitches and redistribute them evenly across three double-pointed needles — I found 2 stitches per needle to be the most comfortable. Knit in the round.
Rounds 1-2: k6.
Round 3: [k1, yo] – 6 times. (12)
Round 4: k12. Knit the yo through the back loop.
Round 5: [k2, yo] – 6 times. (18)
Round 6: k18. Knit the yo through the back loop.
Round 7: [k3, yo] – 6 times. (24)
Round 8: k24.
Round 9: [k4, yo] – 6 times. (30)
Round 10: k30.
Rounds 11-18: k30.
Round 19: [k5, yo] – 6 times. (36)
Round 20: k36.
Rounds 21-22: k36.
Round 23: [k2tog, yo] – around.
Round 24: [k1, knit yarn over stitch though the front loop] – around.
Rounds 25-26: k36.
Round 27: [k4, k2tog] – 6 times. (30)
Rounds 28-38: k30.
Round 39: [k3, k2tog] – 6 times. (24)
Round 40: k24.
Round 41: [k2, k2tog] – 6 times. (18)
Round 42: k18.
Before the last 3 rounds, fold the bell by placing the inner layer inside. Add the small bell and yarn hanger.
Round 43: [k1, k2tog] – 6 times. (12)
Round 44: k12.
Round 45: [k2tog] – 6 times.
Cut the yarn, pulling the tail through the remaining 6 stitches to close the outer layer of the bell. Weave in the end, and decorate your bell by adding glitter or other embellishments for a more festive look.
