Knitting materials and tools:

Circular or straight knitting needles 3.5 mm (US 4) for the main sock part and 3 mm (UK 11) for the cuff. 

Bernat, Satin – 100% acrylic. Color A – grey, Color B – pink. 

Weight Category – (4) Meduim. Quantity – 70 grams.

Stitch markers, yarn needle.

Knit flat socks size with a cuff:

Size: US 6-6.5 (23.5 cm). Follow the instruction tips to adjust the sock size.

Gauge: 17 stitches = 4 inches in stockinette

Common abbreviations of knit stitches:

k – knit

k1b – knit one below

k2tog – knit two together

p – purl

p2tog – purl two together

pm – place marker

RHN – right-hand needle

LHN – left-hand needle

sel s – selvage stitch: always slip the first stitch knitwise, work to the last stitch, purl the last stitch.

LLCT – Left-Leaning Cable Twist with Left Lifted Increase (together):

    1. Slip the next stitch to the RHN, then knit 1.
    2. Using your left needle, pick up the stitch from the row below the stitch you just knit on your right needle.
    3. Insert the right needle into the back loop of this stitch and knit it.
    4. Now, with 3 stitches on your RHN, return them back to the LHN.
    5. Slip the first stitch to an extra needle and hold it in front of your work.
    6. Return the 2nd and 3rd stitches to the RHN.
    7. Knit 1 from the extra needle.

RLCT – Right-Leaning Cable Twist with Left Lifted Increase (together):

    1. Bring the working yarn to the front and slip the next stitch.
    2. Knit 1, then with 2 stitches on RHN, return them both to the LHN.
    3. Slip the first stitch to an extra needle and hold it at the back of your work.
    4. Return the second stitch to the RHN and knit 1 from the extra needle.
    5. Using your left needle, pick up the stitch from the row below the stitch you just returned on your RHN.
    6. Insert the right needle into the back loop of this stitch and knit it.

KFB – Knit through the front and back:  Knit through the front of the stitch as you normally would, but don’t slip the stitch off the needle, then knit through the back of the same stitch by inserting your needle into the back loop and knitting again. Now slip the stitch off the LHN.

k3tog – knit three together.

Knitting the body of the sock

Color A:

Cast on 34 stitches. 

Row 1: sel s, [k1, p1] – repeat till the end, sel s.

Row 2: sel s, [k1b, p1] – repeat till the end, sel s.

Repeat Row 2, until the cuff measures 12 cm (5 in), ensuring you end with an even number of rows. 

Switch to larger knitting needles and begin working on the main part of the sock.

Row 1: sel s, k15, pm, k2, pm, k15, sel s.

Row 2: sel s, k13, p6, k13, sel s. Cut the yarn leaving at least 30 cm tail.

Color B:

Row 3: k14 (instead of slipping the first stitch, knit it), LLCT, k2, RLCT, k13, sel s.

Row 4: sel s, k14, p6, k14, sel s.

Row 5: sel s, k14, LLCT, k2, RLCT, k14, sel s.

Row 6: sel s, k15, p6, k15, sel s.

Row 7: sel s, k15, LLCT, k2, RLCT, k15, sel s.

Row 8: sel s, k16, p6, k16, sel s.

Continue knitting, making increases, until the main part almost covers the big toe. Cut the yarn leaving at least 30 cm tail.

Color A:

Knit 4 more rows in the same way as the previous rows.

The central part up to the ribbing measures 16 cm for US sizes 6-6.5. Knit more rows if needed. Cut the yarn.

Slip 36 stitches, or until 2 stitches remain before the first stitch marker, to the LHN. Remove all stitch markers.

Knitting the sole of the sock

Color A:

Row 1: k1, pm, k4, pm, p2tog. Turn.

Row 2: sel s, k4, k2tog. Turn

Row 3: slip 1st stitch purlwise, holding working yarn in front, then bring the working yarn in back, k3, kfb, p2tog. Turn.

Row 4: sel s, k4, kfb, k2tog. Turn.

Row 5: slip 1st stitch purlwise, holding working yarn in front, then bring the working yarn in back, k5, kfb, p2tog. Turn.

Row 6: sel s, k6, kfb, k2tog. Turn.

Row 7: slip 1st stitch purlwise, holding working yarn in front, then bring the working yarn in back, k8, p2tog. Turn.

Row 8: sel s, k8, k2tog. Turn.

Repeat Rows 7 and 8 until get 4 stitches on the right side, 4 stitches on the left side and 10 sts in the center.

Next Row: slip 1st stitch purlwise, holding working yarn in front, then bring the working yarn in back, k6, k2tog, p2tog. Turn.

Next Row: sel s, k5, k2tog, k2tog. Turn.

Next Row: slip 1st stitch purlwise, holding working yarn in front, then bring the working yarn in back, k4, k2tog, p2tog. Turn.

Next Row: sel s, k3, k2tog, k2tog. Turn.

Continue repeating the last 2 rows, making decreases, until you have 3 stitches remaining on your needles. k3tog. Cut the yarn leaving a 15 cm tail.

Using a yarn needle and the horizontal invisible method, seam the back part of the booties. Change yarn color while seaming different parts. When you reach the ribbing, insert the needle into the side stitch and pull it out through the next stitch; repeat the same on the opposite side.  Weave in all ends.
