k – knit

p – purl

st(s) – stitch(es)

sel s – selvage stitch: always slip the first stitch knitwise, work to the last stitch, purl the last stitch

Maze stitch knitting pattern:

Please note that this stitch is not suitable for use with 100% acrylic or cotton yarn.

To begin, cast on any number that is a multiple of 12 plus 2 selvage stitches. For example, cast on 38 stitches.

Row 1: sel s, [p1, k2, p6, k2, p1] – repeat till the end, sel s.

Row 2: sel s, [k1, p2, k6, p2, k1] – repeat till the end, sel s.

Row 3: sel s, [p1, k10, p1] – repeat till the end, sel s.

Row 4: sel s, [k1, p10, k1] – repeat till the end, sel s.

Row 5: sel s, [k5, p2, k5] – repeat till the end, sel s.

Row 6: sel s, [p5, k2, p5] – repeat till the end, sel s.

Row 7: sel s, [p3, k2, p2, k2, p3] – repeat till the end, sel s.

Row 8: sel s, [k3, p2, k2, p2, k3] – repeat till the end, sel s.

Row 9: Repeat Row 5.

Row 10: Repeat Row 6.

Row 11: Repeat Row 3.

Row 12: Repeat Row 4.

Repeat Rows 1-12 to form the pattern.
