Knitting materials and tools:
Circular or double-pointed knitting needles 3.5 mm (US 4). 3 mm (UK 11) for the mitten ribbing.
Yarnspirations, Bernat Premium (4) – 100% acrylic, 198 grams – 329 meters per skein. Color A – blue, Color B – white.
Hook 4 or 4.5 mm for the booties ties.
Knit striped booties size:
Size: Newborn baby – 4 months
Gauge: 18 stitches = 4 inches in stockinette
Common abbreviations of knit stitches:
k – knit
k2tog – knit two together
skpo – Slip, Knit, Pass Over: Slip one stitch to the right needle knitwise, knit in the next stitch and drop this stitch off the left needle, insert the left needle into the slipped stitch, pass it over the knit stitch and it’s done.
Sk2p – slip, knit two together, pass over.
p – purl
Sl 1p – slip one stitch purlwise
Sl 1k – slip one stitch knitwise
p2tog – purl two together
p3tog – purl three together
sel s – selvage stitch: always slip the first stitch knitwise, work to the last stitch, purl the last stitch
pm – place stitch marker
RS – right side
WS – wrong side

Knitting the body of no-thumb mittens:
Color A:
Holding two 3 mm needles together, cast on 26 sts. Redistribute all stitches between 3 DPNs (if you are using them) and join to knit in the round.
Rounds 1-18: [k1, p1] – repeat around. Or knit until the ribbing part measures 6 cm (2.4 in)
Switch to bigger size (3.5 mm) knitting needles,
Rounds 19-21: knit all stitches around.
Color B:
Round 22: knit all stitches around.
Round 23: slip 1, knit all stitches around. Slipping the first stitch in the second round of each new stripe will make the color change smooth and prevent jogs.
Round 24: knit all stitches around.
Color A:
Round 25: knit all stitches around.
Round 26: slip 1, knit all stitches around.
Round 27: knit all stitches around.
Color B:
Round 28: knit all stitches around.
Round 29: slip 1, knit all stitches around.
Round 30: knit all stitches around.
Color A:
Round 31: knit all stitches around.
Round 32: slip 1, knit all stitches around.
Round 33: knit all stitches around.
Color B:
Round 34: knit all stitches around.
Round 35: slip 1, knit all stitches around.
Round 36: knit all stitches around. The stockinette stitch part should also measure approximately 6 cm (2.4 in).
Shaping the top of no-thumb mittens:
Color A:
Round 1: [k1, skpo, k7, k2tog, k1] – twice. (22)
Round 2: knit all stitches around. Slip the 1st stitch in this round.
Round 3: [k1, skpo, k5, k2tog, k1] – twice. (18)
Round 4: knit all stitches around.
Round 5: [k1, skpo, k3, k2tog, k1] – twice. (14)
Cut the yarn, leaving a 15-20 cm tail. Use the Kitchener stitch technique to neatly graft the two parts of the mitten together. Weave in all ends.
