Common abbreviations of knit stitches:
k – knit
p – purl
st(s) – stitch(es)
sel s – selvage stitch: always slip the first stitch knitwise, work to the last stitch, purl the last stitch
Petiole stitch knitting pattern:
Pay attention that this stitch will not have the same structure if you use cotton yarn.
Use the yarn that holds its shape, is rigid and has elasticity.
Cast on a multiple of 6 sts, plus 2 extra stitches, plus 2 selvage stitches.
Rows 1: sel s, [p2, k4] – repeat till the end, p2, sel s.
Row 2: sel s, [k2, p4] – repeat till the end, k2, sel s.
Row 3: Repeat Row 1.
Row 4: Repeat Row 2.
Row 5: Repeat Row 1.
Row 6: Repeat Row 2.
Row 7: sel s, [k3, p2, k1] – repeat till the end, k2, sel s.
Row 8: sel s, [p3, k2, p1] – repeat till the end, p2, sel s.
Row 9: Repeat Row 7.
Row 10: Repeat Row 8.
Row 11: Repeat Row 7.
Row 12: Repeat Row 8.
Repeat Rows 1-12 to form the pattern.
