Knitting materials and tools:
Double-pointed or circular knitting needles 3.5 mm (US 4) – for the ribbing and 4 mm (US 6 /UK 8) for the main part. If you find yourself as a tight knitter switch for 4.5 mm (US 7 /UK 7) for the main part. Use a bigger needle size if you want to get a bigger hat size.
Patons, Decor – 75% acrylic, 25% Eco Wool.
Weight Category – 4. Quantity: 75 grams.
Pom pom – black/white/gray color. Material – natural fur / faux fur / yarn pom pom. Size – 15-16-17 cm.
Knit & purl hat size:
Head circumference: 53-58 cm (21-22”).
Gauge: 16-17 stitches = 4 inches in stockinette
Common abbreviations of knitting stitches:
K – knit
Kbl – knit through the back loop
P – purl
P2tog – purl two together
Pm – place marker
K3tog – knit three together – Slip next two stitches to the right needle knitwise, knit in the next stitch and drop this stitch off the left needle, insert the left needle into two slipped stitches, pass them over the knit stitch and it’s done.
skpo – Slip, Knit, Pass Over: Slip one stitch to the right needle knitwise, knit in the next stitch and drop this stitch off the left needle, insert the left needle into the slipped stitch, pass it over the knit stitch and it’s done.
K2tog – knit two together

Knit & purl hat pattern for men:
Using 3.5 mm knitting needles (40 cm), cast on 84 stitches or any other number that is divisible by 6. Place stitch marker and join to knit in the round.
Round 1: [k1, p1] – repeat around.
Round 2: [kbl 1, p1] – repeat round.
Rounds 3-12 – repeat Rounds 1 and 2. Repeat ribbing until peace measure 5-6 cm.
Switch to 4 mm knitting needles. Use bigger size needles if needed.
Round 1: [p1, k5] – repeat till the end of the round.
Round 2: [p2, k3, p1] – repeat till the end of the round.
Repeat Rounds 1-2 of the main part until the hat reaches 19-20 cm. Finish knitting with Round 1.
Shaping the crown of a man’s hat:
Round 1: [p2tog, k3, p1] – repeat till the end of the round.
Rounds 2-3: [p1, k3, p1] – repeat till the end of the round. Do not purl the last stitch of Round 3. From this point, we start knitting Round 4. Move your stitch marker one stitch back.
Round 4: [p2tog, k3] – repeat till the end of the round.
Round 5: [p1, k3] – repeat till the end of the round.
Round 6: [p1, k3tog] – repeat till the end of the round.
Round 7: [k2tog] – repeat till the end of the round.
Break yarn and leave 10-15 cm tail. Thread the end through the remaining stitches and fasten securely. Weave in all ends.
Optionally attach yarn, faux or real fur pom pom.
