Knitting materials and tools:
Double-pointed knitting needles 4.5 mm (US 7/UK 7) – for the ribbing and 5.5 mm (US 9 / UK 5) for the main part. You can use circular needles (80 cm) and magic loop method.
Red Heart, Soft Essentials –100% acrylic. Color of your choice.
Weight Category – 5. Quantity – less than 1 ball. If you have difficulty finding the aforementioned brand of yarn, use something else that will have about 100 m (110 yards) per 100 grams skein.
Tapestry needle, scissors, stitch marker, waste yarn.
Knit fingerless gloves size:
Size: Adult
Gauge: 14 stitches = 4 inches in stockinette
Common abbreviations of knit stitches:
K – knit
P – purl
Pm – place marker
LLI – left lifted increase: inset the left-hand needle from back to front into the stitch two rows below the one you just knitted on the right-hand needle. Lift it to your left needle without twisting and knit it through the back loop.
RLI – right lifted increase: insert your right-hand needle from back to front into the stitch one row below the first stitch on your left-hand needle. Lift it to your left-hand needle and then knit it.

Knitting the cuff:
Using smaller size knitting needles, cast on 26 sts. Join to knit in the round. Pm if needed. Rib k1, p1 for 14 rounds or 7 cm.
Change to bigger size knitting needles.
Knitting the hand section:
Rounds 1-6: work rounds in stockinette stitch.
Round 7: k12, LLI, k14, RLI.
Round 8: knit all stitches (28 sts).
Round 9: k12, LLI, k16, RLI.
Round 10: knit all stitches (30 sts).
Round 11: k12, LLI, k18, RLI.
Round 12: knit all stitches (32 sts).
Round 13: k12, LLI, k20, RLI.
Round 14: knit all stitches (34 sts).
Round 15: k12, LLI, k22, RLI.
Round 16: knit all stitches (36 sts).
Knitting the thumb gusset:
Round 17: Slip the next 12 stitches to the waste yarn (or stitch holder). Place a marker that will indicate the beginning of the round. K24.
Rounds 18-26: work rounds in stockinette stitch.
At this point my mitten measures 20 cm.
Change to smaller size knitting needles.
Rounds 27-30: [k1, p1] – repeat around.
Bind off all stitches. Use any cast-off technique you know. I recommend Tubular Cast Off. Cut the yarn, leaving 3-4 times the length to be cast off and thread onto the yarn needle. Place stitch markers into 1st and 2nd stitches. It will later help us to finish the tubular cast-off.

- Insert yarn needle into first stitch (knit st) knitwise, pull the yarn through and drop it of the needle.
- Skip the next purl stitch and insert the yarn needle purlwise into next knit stitch. Pull the yarn through.
- Insert yarn needle into new first stitch (purl st) purlwise, pull the yarn through and drop it of the needle.
- Insert yarn needle from back to front between new first and second stitches and right away insert yarn needle into second stitch (purl st) knitwise. Pull the yarn through.
- Repeat steps 1-4 around. For more instructions check the video tutorial.

Go back to the thumb:
Using smaller size knitting needles, pick up 12 stitches from the stitch holder and 3 more stitches around the gap. Attach yarn and work one round in stockinette stitch. Decrease one stitch to get in total an even number (14sts).
Rounds 2-5: [k1, p1] – repeat around.
Bind off using the tubular method. Weave in ends and repeat everything for the second mitten.
