Knit baby booties with decor bow pattern:
Using the long tail method, cast on 36 sts.
Rows 1-27: sel s, knit all stitches, sel s. Turn. The sock now measures 7.5 cm. Knit a total of an odd number of rows.
Row 28: sel s, k14, sel s. Turn. Hold other stitches on the left-hand needle.
Rows 29-55: sel s, k14, sel s. Turn.
Row 56: sel s, k15, k19 (those stitches that you were holding on the left-hand needle), sel s.
Row 57: sel s, knit all stitches, sel s.
Rows 58-83: sel s, knit all stitches, sel s.
The height of the full sock is 17 cm.
Bind off all stitches. Cut the yarn, leaving a 50-60 cm tail.
Fold the sock with the WS out. Thread the tail onto a yarn needle and sew the back of the sock as follows:
-
- Insert the needle into the back loop of the stitch closer to you and through the single loop on the other side. Repeat this process until you reach the bottom of the sock.
- When you reach the foot part, insert the needle through the back loop of the stitch closer to you and through the front loop on the other side. Repeat this process.
- When you have reached the last 4 stitches on each side, pick up all stitches and pull to close the hole, similar to closing the crown of a hat. This will ensure a better fit for the sandal without sharp corners.
Turn the sock RS out. To close the top part, join a new tail and pick up all stitches around the opening. Pull the tail to close the top. Cut the yarn and weave in all ends. Repeat for the second sock.
If you decide to decorate the socks with bows as I did, take the desired color and cast on 10 or 12 stitches.
Rows 1-14: sel s, knit all stitches, sel s. Bind off all stitches and cut the yarn. The height of the piece should now be 4 cm.
To make the bow, take a length of yarn and wrap it around the center of the piece. Make a knot and leave a tail to tie it to the sock.
