Round 27: Bind off 7 sts. At this point, change the yarn color or continue knitting with the main color. Cut the yarn. The first stitch is already on the right-hand needle. Color B: k5, yo, pick up 13 sts through both loops.

Round 28: slip 1 purlwise with yarn in front, k12, p6, sel s. (20 sts)

Repeat the pattern from Row 3 onwards. Knit a total of 6 sections, changing the yarn color each time. At the end bind off all 13 stitches.

Cut the yarn, leaving a tail.

Use a yarn needle and the new tail to join the first and last sections of the coaster together. Use your preferred seaming method or refer to my video tutorial for instructions.

If you’re making a potholder, knit one more coaster and sew them together. Refer to my YouTube video for seaming instructions.

Cut the yarn and weave in all ends. If you’re knitting the potholder, leave all tails inside instead of weaving them in
