k – knit

p – purl

k5tog – knit five together

st(s) – stitch(es)

sel s – selvage stitch: always slip the first stitch knitwise, work to the last stitch, purl the last stitch

Knit border with roses pattern:

Cast on any odd number.

Row 1: sel s, *purl next stitch through the front loop and pull a long loop, after that purl the same stitch through the back loop and pull a long loop, again purl the same stitch through the front loop and through the back loop and at the end one more time through the front loop (now you have 5 loops on your right-hand needle). Drop the stitch of the left-hand needle. With a tip of left-hand needle return all 5 loops back to the left needle starting from 1st loop, after that k5tog, p1 – repeat from* till the end sel s.

Row 2: sel s, purl all stitches, sel s.
