Super bulky flat knit hat pattern:

Using the long tail method, cast on 47 sts or any other odd number.

Knitting hat’s body:

Row 1: sel s, [k1, p1] – repeat across, k1, sel s.

Row 2: sel s, [p1, k1] – repeat across, p1, sel s.

Row 3: sel s, [slip the next knit stitch, insert the needle one stitch below (into the purl stitch), draw up a long loop, yarn over, and then work a skpo] – repeat across, k1, sel s.

Row 4: sel s, [p2tog, k1] – repeat across, p1, sel s.

Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until the hat reaches a height of 20 cm. My hat measures 40 cm in width.

Shaping hat’s crown:

Row 1: sel s, [skpo] – repeat across, k1, sel s.

Row 2: sel s, purl all stitches, sel s.

Row 3: sel s, [skpo] – repeat across, k1, sel s.

Row 4: sel s, purl all stitches, sel s.

Row 5: sel s, [skpo] – repeat across, sel s.

Cut the yarn, leaving a tail that is 2-3 times the height of your hat. Thread the tail through the remaining stitches and pull tight to close the top. With the hat turned right side out, use the mattress stitch to sew the seam, ensuring no stitches are lost and achieving a neat, invisible finish. Weave in the ends securely.
