Knitting materials and tools:

Common abbreviations of knit stitches:
k – knit
kf – knit the stitch through the front loop
p – purl
pb – purl through the back loop, wrapping the yarn clockwise (opposite to the usual counterclockwise direction).
1/1 L/C – left leaning cable: slip the next stitch to a cable needle and hold it in front of your work, knit the next stitch on the left-hand needle, knit the stitch from the cable needle.
1 /1 R/P – right leaning purl cable: slip the next stitch to a cable needle and hold it in the back of your work, purl the next stitch on the left-hand needle, purl the stitch from the cable needle.

Textured ribbing knitting pattern:
Cast on a number of stitches that is a multiple of 5, plus 1 extra stitch, and 2 selvage stitches if you are knitting in rows.
Row 1 (base): sel s, [k1, p2, k1, pb] – repeat across, k1, sel s.
Row 2: sel s [p1, kf, p1, 1/1 L/C] – repeat across, p1, sel s.
Row 3: sel s, [k1, 1/1 R/P, k1, pb] – repeat across, k1, sel s.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 only to form the pattern
