Whether you have blond, brown, red or dark hair, mint color of the hat will make you look fresh and young. Simply follow the instructions, and enjoy the process as much as end result.

Knitting materials and knitting tools:

<> Circular or DPN Knitting Needles 4 mm (US 6/ UK 8) and 4.5 mm (US7 /UK7);

<> 100% merino wool (Kartopu Merino Yün). Sky blue color: 100 grams -180 m per skein – in total 1 ball;

<> Hook or tapestry needle.

Slouchy winter knit beanie size: 

Adult hat: 53-56 cm

Gauge: 16 stitches = 4 inches

Common abbreviations of knitting stitches:

k – knit

p – purl

k2tog – knit two together

p2tog – purl two together

Cable 2 Back Knit (C2BK) – Slip 2 stitch to the extra needle and hold in back of work, k2 from the left hand needle, p2 from the extra needle.

Cable 2 Front Purl (C2FP) – Slip 2 stitch to the extra needle and hold in front of work, p2 from the left hand needle, k2 from the extra needle.

Cable 2 Front (C2F) – Slip 2 stitch to the extra needle and hold in front of work, k2 from the left hand needle, k2 from the extra needle.

Cable 2 Back (C2B) – Slip 2 stitch to the extra needle and hold in back of work, k2 from the left hand needle, k2 from the extra needle.

Knitting body of the slouchy winter beanie:

Using 4 mm knitting needles cast on 90 stitches or any other number that is divisible by 10. Place marker and join in the round.
Rounds 1-10: k2, p1 [k4, p1] – repeat 17 times, k2.

Round 11: k2 M1PW, p1 [k4, M1PW, p1] – repeat 17 times, k2.

Switch to the 4.5 mm knitting needles.

Round 12: *C2F, k4, C2B – repeat from *.

Round 13: Knit all stitches around.

Round 14: k2, [C2FP, C2BK, k4] – repeat 8 times, C2FP, C2BK, k2.

Round 15-20: k2, p2 [k4, p2] – repeat 17 times, k2.

Repeat Rounds 12-20 – 4 more times.

Shaping crown of the slouchy knit hat:

Round 1: k2, p2tog, [k4, p2tog] – repeat 17 times, k2.

Round 2-5: k2, p1, [k4, p1] repeat 17 times, k2.

Round 6: k2tog, p1, [k2, k2tog, p1] – repeat 17 times, k2.

Round 7: k1, p1, [k3, p1] – repeat 17 times, k2.

Round 8: k2tog around.

Round 9: knit all stitches.

Round 10: k2tog around.

Using tapestry needle thread through remaining stitches, pull tight and knot.

Add an extravagant pom or leave the hat as is, put your hat on, go out and get a few selfies for your Instagram profile.

I love so many patterns but cannot manage the one needle patterns as have always 45 years) knitted with two needles…sadly I miss out on many patterns

I am sorry Jane but knitting in circle is much better. At the end you get seamless accessories. Try it, there are many online tutorials that can help you.

I’ve had to tear out and restart at least 3 times. How many stitches should there be after the M1P1 rows? My math says 36 more stitches, making total of snow 126. Confused.

Hi Dorothy. It must be 108 sts after M1PW round. You add 18 sts. Pay attention that you repeat 17 times only part that is written in brackets, and finish with k2

Undid work 4 times. Can’t figure out how many stitches there are such to be after the multiple M1PW. My math says it adds 36 stitches, making total 126. But doesn’t work. HELP!

How do you get from the 108 stitches in Round 12 to the 112 stitches in Round 14 and back to 108 in Round 15??
