k – knit

p – purl

sel s – selvage stitch: always slip the first stitch knitwise, work to the last stitch, purl the last stitch

WS – wrong side

Rebar knit kitchen towel pattern:

Towel width: 24.5 cm (10 in)

Cast on 41 sts. The central stitch pattern must be a multiple of 4, plus 1 extra stitch and plus 2 selvage stitches. I also added 6 stitches: 3 sts for the right-side border and 3 sts for the left-side border.

Rows 1-7: sel s, knit all stitches, sel s.

Row 8: sel s, k3, [k1, p3] – repeat 8 times, k4, sel s.

Row 9: sel s, k3, [purl all stitches], k3 sel s.

Row 10: sel s, k3, [k1, p3] – repeat 8 times, k4, sel s.

Row 11: sel s, k3, [purl all stitches], k3 sel s.

Row 12: sel s, k3, [p2, k1, p1] – repeat 8 times, p1, k3, sel s.

Row 13: sel s, k3, [purl all stitches], k3 sel s.

Row 14: sel s, k3, [p2, k1, p1] – repeat 8 times, p1, k3, sel s.

Row 15: sel s, k3, [purl all stitches], k3 sel s.

Repeat Rows 8-15 until you reach the desired length of the towel.

Finish knitting on the wrong side.

Next Row (WS): sel s, knit all stitches, sel s.

Next 6 rows: sel s, knit all stitches, sel s.

Bind off all stitches using any methods you know.

Scandinavian Bind-off: *insert the tip of the right-hand needles purlwise, holding it in front of the work, then insert the tip of the same needle knitwise into the second stitch, wrap the yarn and pull it through. Slip both stitches off the left-hand needle. Return the stitch from the right-hand needle to the left-hand needle. And repeat from * until you bind off all stitches.

Weave in all ends.
