Knitting materials and tools:
<> Circular (40 cm) or double pointed knitting needles, size 9 mm (US 13/UK 0)
<> Lion Brand Wool, Ease Thick & Quick – 20% wool, 80% acrylic. Color of your choice. In total about 120 grams.
Royal Icing knit hat size:
Adult: 53-54 cm (56-57 cm)
Gauge: 9-10 stitches in = 4 inches in stockinette

k – knit
p – purl
p2tog – purl two together
k2tog – knit two together
Chunky knit hat pattern on circular needles
Knitting body of the chunky hat:
Using long tail method cast on 45 (48) stitches or any other number divisible by 3. Place stitch marker and join to knit in the round.
Round 1: [slip next stitch holding working yarn in back, p2] – repeat till the end of round.
Round 2: [k1, p2] – repeat till the end of round.
Repeat Rounds 1-2 seven more times or until hat measures 10.5-11 cm from the edge.
Round 17: [p1, k2] – repeat till the end of round.
Round 18: [slip the next stitch holding working yarn in front, k2] – repeat till the end of round.
Repeat Rounds 17-18 until the length of the whole hat measures 32 cm, or 23 cm without brim.
Shaping the crown of chunky knit hat:
Round 1: [p1, k2tog] – repeat till the end of round.
Round 2: [p2tog] – repeat till the end of round.
Cut he yarn leaving 10 cm tail. Draw the tail through remaining stitches. Pull tail to close top. Weave in all ends and block.
