Knitting materials and knitting tools:
<> Circular Knitting Needles 3.5 mm (US 4) – for hat and scarf;
<> Alpacana Lanoso 35% wool, 40% acrylic, 25% alpaca. Black color: 100 grams -130 m per skein – =1.5 balls for hat and 3 balls for scarf;
<> Hook or tapestry needle.
Slouchy ribbed mens hat size:
Adult hat: 52-58 cm
Gauge: 25 stitches = 4 inches in ribbing – not stretched
Common abbreviations of knitting stitches:
k – knit
p – purl
k2tog – knit two together
p2tog – purl two together
p3tog – purl three together
yo – yarn over
selvage stitch – Always slip the first stitch purlwise, work to the last stitch, purl the last stitch
Men’s slouchy knit hat pattern
Knitting body of the men’s slouchy hat
Using long tail cast on 88 stitches, place marker and join to knit in the round. Please be careful not to twist stitches. If you want to increase or decrease the size of the hat add or subtract 4, 8, 12, 16…. stitches.
Work in k2, p2 for 20-21 cm from the edge.
Shaping the crown of the men’s slouchy hat:
Round 1: *k2, p2tog, repeat from * to the end of round.
Round 2-4: *k2, p1, repeat from * to the end of round.
Round 5: *k1, p2tog [purl two together – 1 knit and 1 purl stitches from the previous round], repeat from * to the end of round.
Round 6: *k1, p1 repeat from * to the end of round.
Round 7: *k1, p3tog [purl three together – 1 purl, 1 knit, 1 purl stitches from the previous round], repeat from * to the end of round.
Cut yarn leaving 15-16 cm tail. Using hook or tapestry needle pull the yarn through remaining stitches. Weave in ends.
