Crochet Cable Stitch Pattern

Crochet materials and tools:

<> Crochet hook 3.5 mm

<> Cotton fair (2) – 48% acrylic, 52% cotton, 100 grams -290 m per skein.

Common abbreviations of crochet stitches:

ch – chain

sc – single crochet

yo – yarn over

hdc – half double crochet

FPDC – front post double crochet: yarn over, insert your hook from front to back and then to the front again around the post stitch, pull up a loop (now you have 3 loops on your hook), yo, pull through two, yo, pull through two.

BPDC – back post double crochet: yo, insert the hook from back to front and then to the back again around the post stitch, pull up a loop (now you have 3 loops on your hook), yo, pull through two, yo, pull through two, yo.

sc2tog – single crochet two together

dc – double crochet

sl st – slip stitch

Crochet cable stitch pattern:

Foundation chain 27.

Row 1: Start in 5th chain from hook, 1dc in each of 10 ch, 6 dc in the next ch, 6 dc in next ch, 1 dc in each of 11 ch, turn.

Row 2: Ch 2, 4 FPDC, 24 BFDC, 4 FPDC, hdc in 3d ch, turn.

Row 3: ch2, 4 BPDC, [6 FPDC, ch2, 1 FPDC over the last stitch, turn and work 5 BPDC, ch 2, 1 FPDC over the last stitch, turn, 5 FPDC, ch2, sl st in ch-2 space, ch2, sl st in last FPDC below] – repeat 4 times, 4 BPDC, hdc in 2d ch, turn. Now you have 4 cable parts, and we are going to cross in the next row.

Row 4: (making the cable) ch2, 4 FPDC, 6 BPDC over the 3d part. Hold in front the 4^th part. Ch3, drop the loop from your hook, insert the hook into first BPDC of the 3d part, then take the dropped loop and pull it through the stitch. Now make 6 BPDC over the 4^th part. Then work 6 BPDC over the 1^st part. Hold in back the 2d part of the cable. And after than 6 BPDC over the 2d part. 4FPDC, hdc in 2d ch, turn.

Row 5: ch2, 4BPDC, 24 FPDC, 4 BPDC, hdc in 2d ch, turn.

Row 6: ch2, 4 FPDC, 24 BPDC, 4 FPDC, hdc in 2d ch, turn.

Repeat Rows 3-6 until you have reached desired length.
