Today I would like to share with you my crochet Christmas tree garland that I have done last year and still did not have time to post it here. You can make separate trees and use them as a decoration for your own big Christmas tree, hang it on the neck of a bottle of wine or add it to a gift wrapping as a finishing touch.
Crochet materials and tools:
<> Crochet hook 3mm (UK 11)
<> Caron Simply Soft (4) – 100% acrylic: 170 grams -288 m per skein.
<> Ribbon, buttons or pom poms for tree’s top
<> Christmas tree size: about 10 cm (4 inches). The size depends on the yarn’s weight and size of the crochet hook.
Common abbreviations of crochet stitches:
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
sc2tog – single crochet two together
sl st – slip stitch
st – stitch
dc – double crochet
ps – puff stitch: yarn over, insert hook into indicated stitch and pull up a long loop, [yarn over and insert hook in same stitch, pull up a long loop] – repeat twice, yarn over and and pull through all 7 loops on hook, chain 1.
Christmas tree garland pattern:
Chain 15.
Row 1: sc in the 2d stitch and all other stitches across, turn (14 stitches)
Row 2: ch3, [skip next st, ps] – repeat 6 times, dc in the last st, turn
Row 3: ch1, sc2tog, sc10, sc2tog, turn
Row 4: ch3, [skip next st, ps] – repeat 5 times, dc in the last st, turn
Row 5: ch1, sc2tog, sc8, sc2tog, turn
Row 6: ch3, [skip next st, ps] – repeat 4 times, dc in the last st, turn
Row 7: ch1, sc2tog, sc6, sc2tog, turn
Row 8: ch3, [skip next st, ps] – repeat 3 times, dc in the last st, turn
Row 9: ch1, sc2tog, sc4, sc2tog, turn
Row 10: ch3, [skip next st, ps] – repeat 2 times, dc in the last st, turn
Row 11: ch1, sc2tog, sc2, sc2tog, turn
Row 12: ch3, [skip next st, ps] – repeat 1 time, dc in the last st, turn
Do not break yarn, make sc along the tree’s edge going into the side of each row at least twice. Make 2 sc in each corner down the tree and sl st into the first sc to join.
Trunk of the crochet Christmas tree pattern:
With the front of the last row facing you, join black or brown yarn
Row1: sc 6, turn
Row 2: ch1, sc 6
Crochet Christmas Tree ornament is ready. Make 5 more trees and join them together.
Ch40, sc in the top of Christmas Tree, [ch30, sc in the top of Christmas Tree] – repeat for each tree and finish by ch40
