Knitting materials and tools:
Circular (16 in or longer) or double-pointed knitting needles 4 mm (US 6 / UK 8 ).
Premier Basix, Premier (4) – 100% acrylic, 200 grams – 328 meters per skein. Quantity: 85 grams.
Knit quick & easy brimmed hat size:
Size: Adult/ Child – 53-58 cm (21-23”)
Gauge: 17-18 stitches = 4 inches in stockinette
Common abbreviations of knit stitches:
k – knit
k2tog – knit two together
pm – place stitch marker
skpo – Slip, Knit, Pass Over: Slip one stitch to the right needle knitwise, knit in the next stitch and drop this stitch off the left needle, insert the left needle into the slipped stitch, pass it over the knit stitch and it’s done

Knitting body of the men’s hat:
Cast on 80 sts, or any number multiple of 4. Join to knit in the rounds. PM.
Rib k2, p2 until the piece measures 14 cm (5.5 in)
Round 1: [k3, slip next st with yarn in back] – repeat around.
Round 2: repeat Round 1.
Round 3: [p1, k1, p1, k1] – repeat around.
Round 4: knit all stitches around.
Round 5: [ k1, slip the next st with yarn in back, k2] – repeat around.
Round 6: repeat Round 5.
Round 7: [p1, k1, p1, k1] – repeat around.
Round 8: knit all stitches around.
Repeat Rounds 1–8 until the hat measures 16 cm with the brim folded. If the brim is unfolded, the hat will be longer. In my case, I repeated Rounds 1–8 two more times and then worked Rounds 1–3 once again. Try to finish your last repeat on Round 3 or Round 7, so that your next round will be Round 4 or Round 8.
Shaping the crown of the men’s hat:
Round 1: [skpo] – repeat around.
Rounds 2-3: knit all stitches around.
Round 4: [k2tog] – repeat around.
Round 5: knit all stitches around.
Round 6: [k2tog] – repeat around.
Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. Pull the tail through the remaining stitches to close the crown, taking care not to break the yarn. Weave in all ends.
