Is there a gauge for this pattern and your other patters? I was always taught that the gauge will insure the proper size as everyone knits to a different size.
Hi, you are right. But when I knit headbands I do not usually measure gauge. For this yarn it is about 20 sts (4 in) in stockinette or 28 sts in Broadway pattern.
I would like to make this for my daughter, how do I make it smaller?
I would not make it narrower, because it will look differently. If you want a smaller circumference, just knit until desired length.
i am using 8 needles with WW yarn and it is still only 4″ wide. the picture of this man indicates it will be significantly larger. do not knit tight. What do you suggest? Guess I’ll try to find another pattern.
If you’re using 28 stitches with medium-weight (WW) yarn and 5 mm needles, and your piece is still less than 10 cm (4″) wide, then something is definitely off. With these materials, it’s impossible to get such a narrow width unless you are an extremely tight knitter. I suggest going up 1–2 needle sizes
