Knitting body of the men’s hat
Using smaller size knitting needles, cast on 84 sts or any other number multiple of 6.
Round 1: [p1, k1] – repeat around.
Repeat Round 1 until the ribbing measures 5-6 cm.
Switch to larger knitting needles.
Round 1: [p3, k3] – repeat around. Repeat this round until the hat measure in total 16-17 cm.
Shaping the crown of men’s hat
Round 1: [p2, k2tog, k2] – repeat around. (70 sts)
Round 2: [p2, k3] – repeat around. (70 sts)
Round 3: [ p2, k1, k2tog] – repeat around. (56 sts)
Round 4: [p2, k2] – repeat around. (56 sts)
Round 5: [ p1, k2tog, k1] – repeat around. (42 sts)
Round 6: [p1, k2] – repeat around. (42 sts)
Round 7: [p1, k2] – repeat around. (42 sts)
Round 8: [p1, k2tog] – repeat around. (28 sts)
Round 9: [p1, k1] – repeat around. (28 sts)
Round 10: [k2tog] – repeat around. (14 sts)
Round 11: knit all stitches (14 sts)
Round 12: [k2tog] – repeat around. (7 sts)
Trim the yarn, leaving a 10-15 cm tail. Using a crochet hook or tapestry needle, thread the yarn tail through the remaining 7 stitches and pull tight to close the opening. Finish by weaving in the ends.
