Knitting materials and tools:
Circular or straight knitting needles 3.5 mm (US 4).
Bernat Premium, Yarnspiration – 100% acrylic.
Weight Category – (4) Medium.
Stitch markers, yarn needle.
Knit low-cut slippers size:
Size: US 6-7.5 (23.5- 24.5 cm).
Gauge: 17 stitches = 4 inches in stockinette
Common abbreviations of knit stitches:
k – knit
k2tog – knit two together
p – purl
p2tog – purl two together
pm – place marker
RS – right side
WS – wrong side
Slip p – slip purlwise
sel s – selvage stitch: always slip the first stitch knitwise, work to the last stitch, purl the last stitch.
skpo – Slip, Knit, Pass Over: Slip one stitch to the right needle knitwise, knit in the next stitch and drop this stitch off the left needle, insert the left needle into the slipped stitch, pass it over the knit stitch and it’s done.
Flat low-cut slippers knitting pattern:
Cast on 33 stitches.
Rows 1-8: sel s, knit all stitches, sel s. Turn.
Knitting the instep part:
Place stitch markers as follows: 11 sts, pm, 11 sts, pm, 11 sts.
Row 1: sel s, k20, sel s. Turn.
Row 2: sel s, k9, sel s. Turn.
Row 3: sel s, k9, sel s. Turn.
Row 4: sel s, k9, sel s. Turn.
Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until the central part measures 12 cm. I reached this length after knitting 44 rows.
Knitting the sides of the slipper:
Row 1: sel s, k10, pick up 22 sts through the front loop only along the left side of the instep (half the total number of instep rows), k10, sel s. Turn.
Row 2: sel s, k43, pick up 22 sts through the back loop only along the right side of the instep, k10, sel s. (77)
Rows 3-20: sel s, k75, sel s. Side part should be approximately 6 cm high.
Knitting the sole part:
Place stitch markers as follows: 33 sts, pm, 11 sts, pm, 33 sts.
Row 1 (RS): sel s, k42, skpo. Turn.
Row 2 (WS): slip p, k9, p2tog. Turn.
Row 3 (RS): sel s, k9, skpo. Turn.
Row 4 (WS): slip p, k9, p2tog. Turn.
Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until 11 central stitches remain on the needles.
Knitting the heel part:
Row 1 (RS): sel s, k8, skpo, pick up 1 stitch through the front loop along the left heel edge. Turn.
Row 2 (WS): no sel s needed. K9, skpo, pick up 1 stitch through the back loop (the loop that is closest to the RS) along the right heel edge. Turn.
Row 3 (RS): no sel s needed. k9, skpo, pick up 1 stitch through the front loop along the left heel edge. Turn.
Row 4 (WS): no sel s needed. K9, skpo, pick up 1 stitch through the back loop (the loop that is closest to the RS) along the right heel edge. Turn.
Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until you’re ready to work the final row on the wrong side.
Last Row (WS): Bind off 8 sts, skpo when you have the last 2 stitches, bind off one stitch. Pick up 1 stitch through the back loop (the loop that is closest to the RS) along the right heel edge. Bind off the last stitch. Weave in all ends.
Repeat the entire process for the second slipper.
