Knitting materials and tools:

<> DPN 4 mm (US 6 / UK 8)

<> Any medium worsted weight yarn

Common abbreviations of knit stitches:

k – knit

p – purl

st(s) – stitch(es)

sel s – selvage stitch: always slip the first stitch knitwise, work to the last stitch, purl the last stitch

WS – wrong side

RS – right side

K2tog – knit two together

Mangrove knit stitch instructions:

Cast on a multiple of 4 sts, plus 2 selvage stitches. Cast on 18 sts. If you want to learn how to knit the edge that you see in the picture, please take a look at the all-purpose knit edge.

Row 1: sel s, purl all stitches, sel s.

Row 2 (RS): sel s, knit all stitches, sel s.

Row 3 (WS): sel s, purl all stitches, sel s.

Row 4: sel s, *p2, skip next two stitches, insert the right-hand needle between 2nd and 3rd stitch and draw up a long loop, k2tog – repeat from*, sel s.

Row 5: sel s, *p2, k2 – repeat from*, sel s.

Row 6: sel s, knit all stitches, sel s.

Row 7: sel s, purl all stitches, sel s.

Row 8: sel s, *skip next two stitches, insert the right-hand needle between 2nd and 3rd stitch and draw up a long loop, k2tog, p2 – repeat from*, sel s.

Row 9: sel s, *k2, p2 – repeat from*, sel s.

Repeat Rows 2-9 to form a pattern.
