Knitting materials and knitting tools:
<> 16” Circular Knitting Needles or straight needles 4.5 mm (US7/UK7)
<> Schaffhauser Wolle SUPERSTAR yarn (DK) – 83% Acrylic, 17% Viscose, Color # 82, 50 grams – 100 meters – in total 2 balls;
Knit hat size:
Gauge: 16 sts – 4 inches (10 cm) – in stockinette
Adult / Teen – 53-57 cm
Note for knitters:

Common abbreviations of knitting stitches:
k – knit
p – purl
st(s) – stitch(es)
k2tog – knit two together
k2togb – knit two together through the back loop
k3tog – knit three together: slip the first stitch to the right-hand needle, k2tog, slip first stitch over the second one.
p2tog – purl two together
yo – yarn over. Lay the working yarn over the right needle from front to back.
sel s – selvage stitch: always slip the first stitch knitwise, work to the last stitch, purl the last stitch
skpo – Slip, Knit, Pass Over: Slip one stitch to the right needle knitwise, knit in the next stitch and drop this stitch off the left needle, insert the left needle into the slipped stitch, pass it over the knit stitch and it’s done.
Spring knit hat on straight needles:
Using 4.5 mm knitting needles, cast on 78 stitches or any other number multiple by 4 plus 2 selvage stitches.
Row 1: sel s, p1, [k2, p2] – repeat till the end of row, k2, p1, sel s, turn.
Row 2: sel s, k1, [p2, k2] – repeat till the end of row, p2, k1, sel s, turn.
Rows 3 -10: Repeat Rows 1 and 2 or until ribbing reaches 5 cm.
Row 11: sel s, p1, yo, k2tog, [p2, yo, k2tog] – repeat till the end of row, p1, sel s.
Row 12: sel s, k1, yo, p2tog, [k2, yo, p2tog] – repeat till the end of row, k1, sel s.
Row 13: sel s, p1, yo, k2togb, [p2, yo, k2togb] – repeat till the end of row, p1, sel s.
Row 14: sel s, k1, yo, p2tog, [k2, yo, p2tog] – repeat till the end of row, k1, sel s.
Repeat Rows 13-14 until hat reaches 19-20 cm.
Shaping the crown of spring knit hat:
Row 1: sel s, p1, yo, k2togb, [p2tog, yo, k2togb] – repeat till the end of row, p1, sel s.
Row 2: sel s, k1, yo, p2tog, [k1, yo, p2tog] – repeat till the end of row, k1, sel s.
Row 3: sel s, [p1, k2togb] – repeat till the end of row, p1, sel s.
Row 4: sel s, [k1, p1] – repeat till the end of row, k1, sel s.
Row 5: sel s, [p1, k3tog] – repeat till the end of row, p1, skpo, sel s.
Row 6: sel s, [p1, k1] – repeat till the end of row, sel s.
Row 7: sel s, [p1, k3tog] – repeat till the end of row, sel s.
Row 8: sel s, [p1, k1] – repeat till the end of row, sel s.
Cut the yarn leaving 70-80 cm tail. Use yarn or tapestry needle to thread this tail through remaining 12 stitches. Pull tight. Using Mattress stitch seam up your hat. Check video tutorial for more instructions.
