Beginner-level turban hat knitting pattern:
Using long-tail method, cast on 24 stitches or any number divisible by 3, plus 1 extra stitch and plus 2 selvage stitches. It will be nice if you get at least 25 cm tail at the end.
Row 1: sel s, *k1, p2 – repeat from * till the end, k1, sel s.
Row 2: sel s, * p1, skip the next stitch, knit the second stitch, and draw up a long loop. After that knit the skipped stitch and drop both stitches off the needle – repeat from * till the end, p1, sel s.
Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until the piece reaches 87 cm.
For the head circumference less than 54 cm, knit 84-85 cm.
Bind off all stitches in the next way: sel s, k2tog, slip the 1st stitch over the 2nd one, k1, slip the 1st stitch over the 2nd one, p1, slip the 1st stitch over the 2nd one, *k1, slip the 1st stitch over the 2nd one, k1, slip the 1st stitch over the 2nd one, p1, slip the 1st stitch over the 2nd one – repeat from * until you have 4 stitches on your needles. K1, slip the 1st stitch over the 2nd one, skpo, slip the 1st stitch over the 2nd one, p1, slip the 1st stitch over the 2nd one. Cut the yarn leaving a 30-35 cm tail.
Assembly of the turban hat
(10:08) Fold the piece in half and place a stitch marker on one side. Place work the wrong side out. Twist (cross) both ends, flip backward, and attach one corner (in the center) of each end with the same stitch marker. Use two more stitch markers to attach the second corner of each end along the back part. Sew the turban (right side, left side and central) using the tails that you left. Attach a new tail if necessary.
Weave in ends.
