Crochet materials and tools:
<> 6.5 mm crochet hook;
<> Merino Wool – 80% wool, 20% acrylic: 100 grams -120 m per skein. If you have difficulty to find the mentioned yarn brand, use something else that will have about 120-140 m (145 yards) per 100 grams skein.
<> Yarn needle, scissors, tape measure.
Top knot crochet headband size:
Length: 49 cm (19.5″).
Head circumference: 52-56 cm (21-23”).
Gauge: 11 stitches by 7,5 rows = 4 inches in half double crochet ribbing
Common abbreviations of crochet stitches:
ch – chain
hdc – half double crochet
Crochet twisted headband pattern:
Row 1: Ch 57. Start in 3d chain from hook. Crocheting through the back ridge loop, turn.
Row 2: Ch 2, hdc in back loops only, turn
Rows 3 – 9: Repeat Row 2 or until the width of the headband reaches 12 cm.
Cut the yarn leaving 10-15 cm tail.
Lay the headband right side up, pick up two ends and make something that looks like a “sandwich”. Sew back and forth just under the first loop on the end making sure that you are going through all 4 layers to get the twist looks nice.
Tie off. Weave in ends. Turn head band right-side out. Smile, the headband is ready. Enjoy wearing it!
