sel s – selvage stitch: always slip the first stitch purlwise, work to the last stitch, purl the last stitch

Fortress knit stitch instructions:

Cast on a multiple of 2 sts, plus 1 extra sts, plus 2 selvage stitches.

Row1 (RS): sel s, *p1, slip the next sts holding yarn in back – repeat from *, p1, sel s.

Row 2: sel s, *slip the next sts holding yarn in front, k1– repeat from *, slip the next sts holding yarn in front, sel s.

Repeat Rows 1-2 to form pattern.
