Sunnyside Cable Knit Scarf Pattern

Knitting materials and tools:

<> DPN 4 mm (US6/UK8).

<> Super Corfou – 100% Acrylic, Color # 45, 40 grams – 95 meters.

Common abbreviations of knit stitches:

k – knit

p – purl

st(s) – stitch(es)

yo – yarn over

sel s – selvage stitch: always slip the first stitch purlwise, work to the last stitch, purl the last stitch

Cable 4 Front (C4F): Slip 4 knit stitches to the extra needle (count yo and slipped stitch of the previous round as one stitch) and hold in front of work, [yo, slip the next stitch, k1] – twice from the left hand needle, [yo, slip the next stitch, k1] twice from the extra needle.

Cast on a multiple of 16 sts plus 8 extra sts and plus 2 selvage stitches.

Cast on 26 stitches.

Row1 (WS): sel s,*yo, slip the next stitch, k1– repeat from *, sel s.

Row 2: sel s, *yo, slip the next stitch, k1, repeat from *, sel s. !!! Count yo and slipped stitch of the previous round as one stitch.

Rows 3-11: repeat Row 2.

Row 12: sel s, C4F, [yo, slip the next stitch, k1] – repeat 4 times, C4F, sel s.

Row 13: sel s, *yo, slip the next stitch, k1, repeat from *, sel s.

Rows 14-23: repeat Row 13.

Row 24: sel s, [yo, slip the next stitch, k1] – repeat 4 times, C4F, [yo, slip the next stitch, k1] – repeat 4 times, sel s.

Row 25: sel s, *yo, slip the next stitch, k1, repeat from *, sel s.

Repeat Rows 2-25 as many times as needed.

Each row indicates “repeat from *” but no other asterisk is present in the row instructions.

I think I’m a good good at knitting but I do find the explanation a bit complicated. Can you tell me what ply wool in we need Australia

Hi Susan. I am not sure about ply as i do not use this system. I do not think it matters for the scarf a lot. Choose yarn that has 90-100 meters per 50 gramms ball

Wish you would do English style. I am lost as you know what. The yarn over is confusing.

Sorry to hear it but how it can be confusing. Just make a yarn over with English style, I do not think it differs.

You can use 4 or 4.5 mm and medium worsted weight yarn

Thank you so much for sharing this pattern! At first, I thought it was a simple cable pattern, but was excited to discover it was brioche! I have tried brioche in the past, but could never understand the directions. Your video was excellent; your instructions were clear and I love the cable pattern! You made my day! ☺️
