Knitting materials and tools:
<> 4 Double Pointed Knitting Needles or Circular Knitting Needles 4 mm (UK 8 / US 6) for the ribbing, 4.5 mm (UK 7 / US 7) for the main part.
<> Super Corfou (4) – 100% acrylic 40 grams -95 m per skein.
<> Tapestry needle

Size: Newborn
Gauge: 16-17 – 4 inches (10 cm)
Common abbreviations of knitting stitches:
k – knit
p – purl
st(s) – stitch(es)
pm – place stitch marker
p2tog – purl two together
skpo – Slip, Knit, Pass Over: Slip one stitch to the right needle knitwise, knit in the next stitch and drop this stitch off the left needle, insert the left needle into the slipped stitch, pass it over the knit stitch and it’s done.

Knitting the cuff
Using smaller size knitting needles, cast on 24 stitches. Cast on an extra stitch if you are going to use an invisible joining method.
Rounds 1-14: [k1, p1] – repeat till the end of round.
Knitting the instep:
Change to bigger size knitting needles.
Round 15: p6, * k1, p1 – repeat from till the ends of round.
Row 16: k5, p1, turn.
Row 17-21: slip stitch, k4, p1, turn.
Row 22: slip stitch, k4, p1. Do not turn.
Pick up 3 sts along side of instep. Knit across 18 sts. Pick up 3 sts along other side of instep. Pm.
Purl 1 round.
Knit 1 round.
Purl 1 round.
Knit 1 round.
Purl 1 round.
Knit 1 round.
Purl 1 round.
Knitting the sole:
Row 1: k5, skpo, turn.
Row 2: slip st, k4, p2tog.
Row 3: slip st, k4, skpo, turn.
Row 4: slip st, k4, p2tog.
Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until you have 12 sts on your needles.
Cut the yarn, leaving 10-15 cm tail. Using tapestry needle and Kitchener stitch join the stitches. Weave in all ends.
Cast on 3 stitches and knit an i-cord until tie reaches 45-50 cm (18-20 inches).
