Crochet bucket beanie size and calculations:
Size: Adult 56 cm
Gauge: 9.5sc -10 cm (4 inch)
(56*10)/9.5 =58 sts – crochet hat’s crown until you have 58 sts.
Common abbreviations of crochet stitches:
ch – chain
st(s) – stitch(es)
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
Crochet bucket beanie pattern:
Ch 3; join with sl st in 1st ch to form a ring.
Round 1: Ch 1, 8sc in ring. Do not join.I highly recommend to place a stitch marker into the last st to keep track.
Round 2: 2 sc into each st of previous round – 16 sc. Remove the stitch marker and place it again in the last st.
Round 3: *1sc in next st, 2sc in next stitch, repeat from * till the end – 24 sc.
Round 4: 1sc in each st of previous round – 24 sc.
Round 5: *1sc in next st, 1sc in next st, 2sc in next stitch, repeat from * till the end – 32 sc.
Round 6: 1sc in each st of previous round – 32 sc.
Round 7: *[1sc in next st] – 3 times, 2sc in next stitch, repeat from * till the end – 40 sc.
Round 8: 1sc in each st of previous round – 40 sc.
Round 9: *[1sc in next st] – 4 times, 2sc in next stitch, repeat from * till the end – 48 sc.
Round 10: 1sc in each st of previous round – 48 sc.
Round 11: *[1sc in next st] – 5 times, 2sc in next stitch, repeat from * till the end – 56 sc.
At this point the crown diameter is 18 cm that is perfect number for an average adult hat size.
Round 12: 1sc in each st of previous round – 56 sc.
Above, when I was doing calculations, I had 58 , so in the next round I am going to add two more stitches to get 58 sts in total.
Round 13 14 sc in the next 14 sts, 2 sc in the next st, 26 sc in the next 26 sts, 2 sc in the next st, 14 sc in the next 14 sts – 58 sc.
Round 14: 1sc in each st of previous round – 58 sc.
Repeat Round 14 until the hat reaches desired length. For an adult hat: 20-21cm (8 inch)
You can finish the hat at this point or make one sl st in each st all the way around. Join and weave in ends. Optionally add a pom pom.
