Knit baby turban hat size:

Head circumference: 36 cm (14”)

Gauge: 22 stitches = 4 inches in stockinette (10 cm)

1 cm = 2.2 sts

36*2.2 = 79.2 sts. To improve the fit of the hat, decrease the number of stitches by 10-15%.

79.2 -10 % = 71.2= 70 sts.

Total Height: height + (height/2) = 13+(13/2) = 19.5 cm

Baby turban hat with bow knitting pattern:

Using the long tail method, cast on 70 stitches.

Rows 1-4: sel s, knit all stitches, sel s. Turn.

Row 5: sel s, knit all stitches, sel s. Turn.

Row 6: sel s, purl all stitches, sel s. Turn.

Repeat knitting Rows 5 and 6 until the piece measures 8 cm.

Knitting decreases:

Row 1: sel s, skpo, knit all stitches until 3 sts are remaining, k2tog, sel s.  Turn. (68)

Row 2: sel s, purl all stitches, sel s. Turn.

Row 3: sel s, skpo, knit all stitches until 3 sts are remaining, k2tog, sel s. Turn. (66)

Row 4: sel s, purl all stitches, sel s. Turn.

Continue making decreases until the total height of the hat measures 19-20 cm. The exact number of stitches remaining does not matter.

Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread the tail onto a yarn needle. With the wrong side facing you, pick up the front loops of each selvage stitch on one side, then do the same on the other side. Finally, pull the tail through the remaining 36 stitches (in my case). Tighten the tail and close the turban until you have a small hole, being careful not to break the yarn. Please do not cut the tail and use it to sew a bow.

Knitting a bow:

Cast on 20 sts.

Row 1: sel s, knit all sts, sel s. Turn. Repeat row 1 until the piece measures 9 cm.

Bind off all stitches. Then, cut the yarn. Alternatively, if you know how to work with a crochet hook, make a single crochet in each stitch around the knitted piece. Make 3 single crochet stitches in each corner. Weave in ends.

Loop part:

Cast on 6 sts.

Row 1: sel s, knit all sts, sel s. Turn. Repeat row 1 until the piece measures 6 cm.

Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. Wrap this tail around the central part of the bow, shaping it as desired. Place one end of the loop around the central part and sew the two edges of the loop together. Finally, sew the bow onto the turban.
