Sunny Slouchy Knit Beanie Pattern on Straight Needles

Knitting materials and knitting tools:

<> Straight or circular knitting needles, size 9 (US 13/UK 0)

<> Lion Brand Wool, Ease Thick & Quick – 20% wool, 80% acrylic. Color of your choice; Less than 1 ball

Slouchy knit beanie size:

Adult: 54-60 cm

Hat’s length: 28 cm

Gauge: 9-10 stitches in = 4 inches in stockinette

Common abbreviations of knitting stitches:

k – knit

p – purl

st(s) – stitch(es)

pm – place marker

sl – slip: keep the working yarn in back and slip the first stitch as to knit

Slouchy knit beanie pattern:

Cast on 29 stitches.

Row 1: keep the working yarn in front and slip the first stitch as to knit, bring the working yarn back and knit all stitches across, turn.

Row 2 (short row): sl 1, knit all stitches until last 3 sts, bring the yarn to the front, slip next stitch purlwise onto the right needle, bring the yarn to the back and return the slip stitch to the left needle, turn.

Row 3: bring the yarn to the back and knit all sts, turn.

Row 4 (short row): sl 1, knit all stitches until last 5 sts, bring the yarn to the front, slip next stitch purlwise onto the right needle, bring the yarn to the back and return the slip stitch to the left needle, turn.

Row 5: bring the yarn to the back and knit all sts, turn.

Row 6 (short row): sl 1, knit all stitches until last 7 sts, bring the yarn to the front, slip next stitch purlwise onto the right needle, bring the yarn to the back and return the slip stitch to the left needle, turn.

Row 7: bring the yarn to the back and knit all sts, turn.

Row 8: sl 1, knit all stitches until last stitch, bring the yarn to the front, slip next stitch purlwise onto the right needle, turn. (Knit all wrapped sts through the front loop).

Row 9: keep the working yarn in front and slip the first stitch as to purl, bring the working yarn back and knit all stitches across, turn.

Repeat Rows 2-9 for 8 more times or until hat reaches desired width. When I measured the width of my hat it was about 42 cm.

Now it is time to seam the hat.

Cut the yarn leaving a tail that is 3 times the height of the hat. Line two edges of the hat with right side facing you. Seam the hat by using horizontal invisible method or any other method you know. Check video to understand how I did it

When you reach the top of the hat, pull two tails to close top, make a knot and weave in ends.

It is time to enjoy the hat!
