Crochet materials and tools:

<> Crochet hook 6 mm (J-10) for cuffs and 7 mm for the main part

<> Crochet hook 3.5 mm

<> Scarfie, Lion Brand (5) – 78% acrylic, 22% wool, 150 grams – 285 meters. Color of your choice.  In total 3 balls.

Crochet oversized sweater size:

One size fits XS/S/M/L

Gauge: 13 stitches per 4 inches

Common abbreviations of crochet stitches:

hdc – half double crochet

sc – single crochet

ch – chain

st(s) – stitch(es)

hdc dec – half double crochet decrease: yarn over, insert hook into the back loop of next stitch and draw up a loop; now you have three loops on your hook. Yarn over and draw up a loop in the next stitch (through the back loop again). Yarn over and draw through all 5 loops on your hook.

Crochet front part of the oversized sweater:

If you are going to crochet the front part shorter than the back part work 55 chain, otherwise work 69 chains as for the back part.

Now measure the chain and it should measure about 47 cm (55ch).

Row 1: 1 hdc in 2nd chain from hook, 1 hdc in each ch to end, turn.

Here is the time when you need smaller hook size.

Using hook 7 mm work 56 chain, or 50 if you do not want to fold cuffs.

Row 1: Using 6 mm hook 1 sc into the 2d ch from hook, 7 sc in next ch, change to 7 mm hook, 1 hdc in each ch to end turn.

Row 2: Using 7 mm hook, 1 ch, 2 hdc in 1st hdc, 1 hdc into each st until you have 8 sts, change to 6 mm hook, 1 sc into each sc to the end (through the back loop too), turn.

As you might already understood we are going to change the hook size while crocheting the cuff. Do not forget as I am not going to mention it further.

Row 3: 1 ch, 1 sc in next 8 sts, 1 hdc in each ch to end, turn.

Row 4: 1 ch, 2 hdc in 1st hdc, 1 hdc into each st until you have 8 sts, 1 sc into each sc to the end.

After you finish the first sleeve leave a long tail (1 meter at least). Repeat everything for the second one and leave long tail again.
