Common abbreviations of crochet stitches:
Gray color – A
Red color – B
ch – chain
st – stitch
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
yo – yarn over
Crochet hot pad pattern:
With A, start with magic circle. Make 7 sc into magic circle. Pull the tail to close the magic circle. Do not join.
I do recommend placing stitch marker in the first stitch of each round, to make it easier to track rounds and stitches.
Round 1: *with A, 2 sc in the next st, with B, 2 sc in the next st – repeat from * till the ends of round, (16 sts). The last 2sc will be done into the stitch with a stitch marker.
Round 2: *with A, 1sc in next st, 2sc in the next st, with B, 1sc in next st, 2sc in the next st* st – repeat from * till the ends of round, (24 sts).
Round 3: *with A, 1sc in next st, 1sc in next st, 2sc in the next st, with B, 1sc in next st, 1sc in next st, 2sc in the next st – repeat from * till the ends of round, (24 sts). (32 sts)
Round 4: *with A, [1sc in next st] – 3 times, 2sc in the next st, with B, [1sc in next st] – 3 times, 2sc in the next st – repeat from * till the ends of round, (40 sts).
Round 5: *with A, [1sc in next st] – 4 times, 2sc in the next st, with B, [1sc in next st] – 4 times, 2sc in the next st – repeat from * till the ends of round, (48 sts).
Go on crocheting until you reach desired potholder diameter.
It the last round at the very end switch to the gray color with a final yarn over of the second sc. With gray color sl st to the next gray stitch and cut the yarn.
Use yarn needle and weave in ends.
