Crochet Christmas Wreath Pattern

Crochet materials and tools:

<> Crochet hook 4 mm (US G7) or 4.5 mm (US 7)

<> Red and Green Yarn – Bernat, Christmas, Happy Holidays (4) –98% acrylic, 2% metallic thread.

<> White – Caron Simply Soft (4) – 100% acrylic

<> Hair elastic band, plastic or metal ring.

Christmas crochet wreath size:

Inner diameter: 5 cm

Outer diameter: 13 cm

Common abbreviations of crochet stitches:

ch – chain

sc – single crochet

st – stitch

sl st – slip stitch

dc – double crochet

hdc – half double crochet

ETR – extended treble crochet: two yarn overs, insert the hook into the next stitch, yarn over and pull through (4 loops on the hook), yarn over and pull through the first loop only, [yarn over again and pull through 2 loops on the hook] – repeat 3 times

Crochet Christmas wreath pattern:

Round 1: With green yarn, join with sl st around hair elastic band. Sc around the band until you fully cover it. Join with sl st into first sc. Cut the yarn.

Round 2: With red yarn, ch 4, 4 ETR in first sc, *skip 1 st, 5 ETR in the next sc – repeat from *, join to top of ch 4. Cut the yarn.

Round 3: With white yarn, ch 3, sc in the same st as ch 3, *skip 1 st, insert the hook between 2 extended treble crochet, sc, ch3 sc into the same space between ETR, repeat from * join into ch 3 space. Cut the yarn.

Weave in ends.

Crochet bow tail:

With red yarn ch 10.

Sl st in the 2^nd ch from the hook, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, sl st, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, sl st in the last ch, ch 1, sl st in the same ch and continuing around the other side of the starting chain, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, sl st, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, sl st in the last ch. Join with sl st to the top of first st. Cut the yarn.

Crochet bow body:

With red yarn ch 20.

Sl st in the 2^nd ch from the hook, 1 hdc, 5 dc, 1 hdc, 2 sl st, 1 hdc, 5 dc, 1 hdc, sl st in the last ch, ch 1, sl st in the same ch and continuing around the other side of the starting chain, 1 hdc, 5 dc, 1 hdc, sl st, 1 hdc, 5 dc, 1 hdc, sl st in the last ch. Join with sl st to the top of first st.  Fold the piece in half with right side facing, and join beginning and the end with sl st.

Form a bow, ch 6 and wrap this chain around the center together with a tail piece that you crochet before and join with sl sl into the first ch. Cut the yarn leaving long tail. Use the tail to sew the bow.
