Holidays are upon us and there is no better time to start preparing for it. Learn how to crochet a big bow and decorate your Santa hat with it. If you have a toddler girl and want her to shine next to your Christmas tree, this project is just a warm up before we start to crochet a beautiful set of Santa skirt and Santa hat.
Crochet materials and tools:
<> Crochet hook 5 mm
<> Red Heart, Super Saver (4) –100% acrylic, 198 grams -333 m per skein.
Crochet big bow size:
About 12 cm (4.72 in) length and 7 cm (2.75 in) width.
Common abbreviations of crochet stitches:
ch – chain
st(s) – stitch(es)
sc – single crochet
hdcb – half double crochet back loop only
hdc – half double crochet
Crochet big bow pattern:
Row 1: Ch 13, hdc in the 3d ch from hook and across – 11 sts now and throughout. Ch2, turn.
Row 2: 10 hdcb, hdc in the last st, ch2, turn.
Row 3: hdc in each st across, ch2, turn.
Row 4: 10 hdcb, hdc in the last st, ch2, turn.
Repeat Rows 3-4 for three more times or until piece reaches 12 cm
Crochet central ring of the bow:
Row 1: Use red yarn, Ch 4, sc in the 2d ch from hook and across – 3 sts now and throughout. Ch1, turn.
Row 2: sc in each st across, ch1, turn.
Rows 3-10 repeat Row 2.
Assembly of the crochet bow:
Cut the yarn and thread the tail into a darning needle (with a blunt tip). Wrap the red center part around the center of your bow, flip the bow over and sew tight both edges together.
